INTIMACY WITH CHRIST
In life, we feel that the people closest to us are the ones who tend to know us the best. They know about our flaws and talents, they minutely observe every behaviour of ours. We’ve spent so much time around each other that we naturally pick up each other’s mannerisms. They can even correctly interpret our nonverbal body language. We know them and they know us.
But for some reason, when it comes to God, we believe that we cannot know him or his ways or his thoughts because of his greatness and magnitude. Logically, it's completely untrue and is disproven by the scripture.
God is so great and vast that there is always something or the other that we discover about him in our lives. We may not be able to know him entirely but that does not mean we cannot know him better.
Having an intimate relationship with God means finding the source to truly being filled with happiness and joy. Scripture shows us that God is intimate with those who trust him. The more we trust God, the more intimately we come to know him.
Salvation is our rescue from the sentence of death because of sin, but intimacy with God is to define our life with him. Yet, when we consider pursuing intimacy with God, our human nature allows misconceptions and hesitation.
Many times, the enemy’s lies bombard us followed by our mistakes, failures and disappointments.
Over time, we can become more acquainted with the enemy’s lies about us than God’s truth about us. When we believe these lies, it further erodes our intimacy with God.
How to have Intimacy with God?
Having intimacy with God will bring you more closer to him. The more closer you come to God, the more deeper you will get to experience him.
To have a true intimacy with God:
1) Embrace the truth that intimacy with god has no contenders.
2)Accept that a fulfilling intimate love relationship with God is personal.
3)Talk with God.
4)Spend time with others who believe in Christ.
5)Always have patience in life.
God wants to have intimacy with you. Christ has suffered for us on the cross to make it possible for you to come more closer to him. All he requires is that you believe in him (John 14:1). He wants you to trust him and love him with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5).
