THE JOY OF SUFFERING FOR CHRIST

Image
Only with God you can find joy in suffering. God’s unchanging character can anchor you in the darkest valleys. As you draw closer to him in your time of suffering, you can choose joy within your pain and even bring others to God through your example . When you are suffering, you may not be considering that joy is possible for you. But the Bible tells us that God is with us even in our darkest moments, guiding and leading us towards the joy we can have, no matter our circumstances. A caring Christian Counselor can help you find that joy. Is Joy in Suffering Possible? We know that when you are truly suffering, it’s hard to believe that joy is possible unless the suffering stops. However, in Psalm 23 it is mentioned that one can experience joy even in the midst of suffering. You can have joy if you have faith in God.  Psalm 23 talks about walking through dark valleys, even valleys where the shadow of death is present. You may be in a valley like that. But even in that valley, God is w...

OVERCOME FEAR WITH FAITH

Image
Do you know? There are approximately 365 "fear nots" in the Bible (one for every day in the year). God knew we would be afraid and so the maximum of the messages that God gave us in the bible is "DO NOT BE AFRAID. I AM WITH YOU." You aren't alone. Many people including Christians battle with fear. To overcome fear with faith, you must know how fear works and what to do about it. Take Authority Over Fear Here's how fear works. Satan and his demons put ideas into people's heads to carry out their evil plans. Because the devil is wicked, he identifies which people have evil hearts or are spiritually weak. To counteract this evil one, Christians must be aware of their thoughts. By doing so, they can rethink of what they allow into their souls. Fear is satan's chief weapon and so people panic or get frightened when he tries to attack them through their thoughts. Be aware of what circles inside your head. Your goal is to overcome fear with faith because li...

INTIMACY WITH CHRIST

Image
In life, we feel that the people closest to us are the ones who tend to know us the best. They know about our flaws and talents, they minutely observe every behaviour of ours. We’ve spent so much time around each other that we naturally pick up each other’s mannerisms. They can even correctly interpret our nonverbal body language. We know them and they know us.  But for some reason, when it comes to God, we believe that we cannot know him or his ways or his thoughts because of his greatness and magnitude. Logically, it's completely untrue and is disproven by the scripture.  God is so great and vast that there is always something or the other that we discover about him in our lives. We may not be able to know him entirely but that does not mean we cannot know him better.  Having an intimate relationship with God means finding the source to truly being filled with happiness and joy. Scripture shows us that God is intimate with those who trust him. The more we trust Go...

YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Image
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot". “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven".   ( MATTHEW 5:13-16 ) As followers of Christ, we have been called to be an influence to all the people in this world. Jesus began teaching this concept early in his ministry when he told his disciples that he would make them fishers of men ( Matthew 4:19 ). Once when Jesus was giving a sermon on the mountain, he used the illustrations of salt and light. Both salt and light have properties which affect things around them. Salt is used to enhance flavor and as a preserva...

HAVE FAITH AS BIG AS A MUSTARD

Image
"For truly I tell you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)  Jesus says that faith as big as a mustard seed can move mountains. A mustard seed is only about one to two millimeter, yet it can grow into a bush 30 feet tall. Similarly our faith, even if small, can do incredible things. Having faith is having complete trust. You have to trust with your entire being that God has your back and that he will help you and take care of you. Our God is faithful and he knows what is best for us. He has a wonderful plan for you and so you have to fully trust God. In the Gospel of Matthew, we see a man who was in desperation because his son was suffering from epilepsy. The disciples had tried to heal the boy but failed to do so. A while earlier, Jesus had given them authority to cast demons in his name and to heal the sick. Despite giving them his power a...
